With Crow Canyon List Search for SharePoint, you can search any SharePoint list or library in the Site Collection.

Crow Canyon List Search for SharePoint is a web part that provides Simple, Specific, and Advanced searches on any SharePoint list. The web part can be placed on any workspace or other customizable page in SharePoint. It can be configured to search lists in any Site in the Site Collection, not just in the Site where the List Search is running.

Searches can be Simple in that a list is selected, the search phrase entered, and the search is run, displaying any results.

Searches can  be configured to search on one column only in a list. This is quite useful when there is a need to search on a specific field (such as Account Number when looking up a customer, Ticket ID when finding a ticket,  or Barcode when searching for an asset).

Searches can also be Advanced; any number of the fields (columns) in the list can be selected and matched to phrases. This creates a "chain" of conditions, which can be linked by "AND" or "OR" conjunctions. Advanced Search includes “negative” matching in that the search could be for items where a phrase is not in that column.

There are many examples of how the List Search would be used. One common use is to search for a Ticket in the Tickets list. The search can be on the Category, Status, and Priority, or by user, or by department, etc. These searches can be simple or have multiple levels of conditions so as to isolate the ticket or tickets that match the search criteria.

Another use is to search for a Contact or Account in a large list. These searches could be by name, location, sales rep, territory, or any number of other criteria

In these ways and many others, List Search provides a powerful and useful tool for working with lists and libraries in SharePoint.
